The CAA Experience

Coach Across America is the first nationwide effort to mobilize highly trained AmeriCorps members as coaches at Sports-Based Youth Development organizations around the country.

Your job description |
As a Coach Across America member, you will use your love and knowledge of sports to serve, teach and support under-resourced youth. You will be part of a dedicated community of youth development professionals at a host organization
that provides programming for at-risk youth. Your work will directly address some of the most pressing needs of our nation’s young people: childhood obesity, academic failure and anti-social behavior.

You will wear many hats during your year of service. Besides coaching, responsibilities may include Program Assistant; Health and Nutrition Leader; Camp Coordinator; Assistant Event Planner; Volunteer Recruiter; Service Learning Facilitator and Referee. You will also have the chance to participate in a range of capacity building activities with your host organization. No day will be the same-- you will develop a range of skill-sets during your Coach Across America service.

Hours and compensation |

As a CAA member, you can serve in a full-time, half-time, quarter-time, or minimum-time capacity. Each member will receive a small living allowance to offset expenses incurred during service.

Additionally, upon successful completion of service, each CAA member will receive an Education Award that can be used to pay education costs at qualified institutions, receive educational training or to repay qualified students loans. Read more about the Education Award here.
