Hoop From The Heart 2020: 3-on-3 Charity Basketball Tournament

Hoop From the Heart is a 3-on-3 charity basketball tournament being held on May 2, 2020. The event was first held in 2018 and was established by Jennifer Kaplan and Rachel Weiner in honor of their father, Jay Katz, who they lost to heart disease in 2012. All proceeds will benefit Up2Us Sports.

On Monday, January 20th, 2020, Up2Us Sports staff and coaches in Chicago, Miami, New Orleans and Seattle participated in the Corporation for National and Community Service’s (CNCS) MLK Day of Service. In 1994, Congress designated the Martin Luther King Jr. Federal Holiday as a national day of service and, fittingly, charged CNCS with leading this effort.

As a child growing up just outside Los Angeles in La Puente (CA), DeAnna Tunstalle spent her summers playing sports and participating in summer camps in LA. Now, as the Senior Director II at Algin Sutton Recreation Center, she is the one in charge of ensuring that the park is providing services to meet the needs of the community.
